From Bayahibe to Saona: An Awakening of the Senses
From the moment you arrive in the Dominican Republic as a family, the wonder begins! Your driver (included) welcomes you at the airport and takes you to Bayahibe, a charming Caribbean village nestled by the sea. An idyllic setting in which to unpack and set the mood. The following day, you head for Saona Island: one of the most beautiful excursions of your Dominican Republic family stay. Unlike overcrowded tourist boats, you depart in a small group aboard a traditional lancha for a day between white sand beaches, crystal-clear waters, mangroves and human encounters at Mano Juan, a fishermen’s village.
Children will love watching sea turtles in their sanctuary, while parents enjoy a rare moment over a lovingly home-cooked lunch. A gentle first immersion into the Dominican soul.
Snorkelling, Caves and Culture in Santo Domingo
On the third day, you head for Cotubanamá National Park for a fun and refreshing activity: a snorkelling session in a freshwater cave, discovering tropical marine life. Then drive on to the capital, Santo Domingo, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. You stay in the heart of the Zona Colonial, in a charming hotel.
Accompanied by your English-speaking guide, you discover urban cenotes, ride the cable car that soars over the city and take in a 4D cinema experience retracing the history of the city: an educational and entertaining moment for young and old! Optional: a musical family evening introducing you to merengue and bachata, to end the day in rhythm.
The Samaná Peninsula: Nature Immersion and Gentle Adventure
Your family circuit continues with a drive to the Samaná Peninsula, one of the country’s natural jewels. En route, a stop at a baseball academy lets children (and parents!) discover this emblematic sport: a true national passion. A wonderful opportunity to interact with young players and understand an important aspect of Dominican culture.
In Las Terrenas, you settle into a peaceful family hotel just steps from the beach: your base camp for exploring the region.
El Limón Waterfall, Quad Biking and Dominican Countryside
The adventure continues with an easy hike to the El Limón waterfall, nestled in the heart of lush vegetation. A swim under the falls, then lunch at a typical ranch, followed by a quad biking ride through country lanes to visit a local family. A chance to understand how rural communities live and to share an authentic moment of connection.
Whales, Wild Beaches and Mangroves by Boat
In season (mid-January to late March), you set off with a specialist guide to watch humpback whales giving birth in Samaná Bay: a unique natural spectacle, moving for all ages. Outside this season, the day is free to enjoy the beaches, a horse ride or a local dance lesson
