Welcome to the Dominican Republic! On arrival at Santo Domingo or Punta Cana airport (depending on your flight), your driver takes you to your 4-star hotel in Bayahibe. Check in, then a free evening and dinner with our hand-picked recommendations.

Day 2

BAYAHIBE: A Paradise Day Under Sail to Saona Island

From Bayahibe, set sail on a private sailboat to discover the paradise island of Saona. White sand beaches, coconut palms and turquoise waters await, along with snorkelling and wild coves. On board, the captain and chef treat you to local specialities before returning to your hotel for a free evening.

BAYAHIBE - SANTO DOMINGO: Tobacco Plantations and the Secrets of Rum Production

Check-out then a private transfer to the world's largest cigar factory, employing over 5,000 craftsmen and producing brands such as Montecristo and Romeo y Julieta. A typically Dominican lunch, then a visit to the Barceló rum distillery (one of the country's finest) to discover its production process. Arrive in Santo Domingo by early evening and check in to your hotel in the Zona Colonial.

Day 4

SANTO DOMINGO: Offbeat Guided Tour and Evening at a Cigar Club

Explore Santo Domingo off the beaten track: from the Zona Colonial to Santo Domingo Este, discover Los Tres Ojos (Three Eyes), the Lighthouse of Christopher Columbus, and ride the cable car for sweeping views over the city. A typical lunch, a colonial stroll, relaxation at the hotel, then an elegant evening with dinner and a cigar at one of the capital's finest clubs.

SANTO DOMINGO - SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS: Cacao Plantation and Homestay Night

Set off for San Francisco de Macorís to discover the full chocolate production process, from the organic plantation to the chocolate bar you make yourselves. A typical lunch of la bandera (the Dominican national dish), a visit to the Mirabal Sisters Museum and local murals, then a night in a guesthouse with a local family in Moca.

SAN FRANCISCO DE MACORÍS - SANTIAGO: Coffee Tasting, Pottery Workshop and Discovering Santiago de los Caballeros

After breakfast, a guided coffee tasting with local producers, then a pottery workshop to create the celebrated Muñeca Sin Rostro, the country's emblematic doll. Lunch in Santiago, then a visit to the Heroes' Monument, the old town and its street art. Check in to your hotel with views over Santiago.

SANTIAGO: Cigar Plantation Visit and Rum Tasting

From Santiago, visit a cigar plantation at Jicome - with tastings - then lunch in town. In the afternoon, discover an iconic factory and try your hand at rolling your own cigar with master craftsmen. In the evening, return to the hotel for an exclusive tasting of the three great Dominican rums (Brugal, Barceló and Bermúdez) paired with fine cigars.
